One Wednesdays at camp the kitchen closes and EVERYONE cooks out dinner - even the Specialists!! We asked the Counselors in Training to collaborate on this post about their evening in the post below :)
Homestead Cabins head out to the homes in the woods at Outpost and each group cooked out burgers. H1 counted all their collected pieces of firewood and were happy to report they gathered over 500 sticks. H2 had fun playing Quack, as well as Giants, Wizards and Elves. They were also super proud to top off their burgers with homemade pickles they made in the Environmental Center with Paul and Drue. H3 played lots of games too and did their hand print Christian Education activity in Outpost. H4 had a survivalist block with the Environmental Center where they learned how to make shelters, so H4 made their own shelter and practiced lashing. H5 learned lots of riddles and enjoyed Mexican S'mores and baked apples for dessert. H6 went to High Ropes before heading to Outpost and sang lots of Down By The Bay. H7 went Banana Boating earlier in the day and then made Banana Boats for dessert at their cookout. H8 played Heartbeat and Bang and spotted a lot of frogs while collecting firewood. They also made Mexican S'mores, but renamed them “S’MACOS” and made up a dance about them. H9 lashed a bench at their campsite. H10 learned the Stick Dance. H11 had a surprise visit from the Office Manager Matt and feasted on s'mores.
Day Camp One cooked out on main camp at the Boys Homestead Unit Leader Shelter. They played tag and lashed. They were so excited for cookout they collected enough firewood for the next group to cook out with too. Day Camp Two cooked out on the beach. They enjoyed the company of Misty - one of camps favorite dogs.
The Pioneer Units had a Brinner (Breakfast for Dinner) Potluck. P1 made trainwreck, (a combination of potatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs, onions and peppers). P2 made funfetti, chocolate chip, chocolate chip banana, and apple cinnamon pancakes. P3 made PBJ stuffed french toast. P4 made rosemary thyme potatoes. P5 made monkey bread in a Dutch oven. P6 made crazy breakfast quesadillas and P7 made caramel apple crisp.
The Adventure Pathfinders prepared rotisserie chicken and clams and mussels they caught in the Bay. And, last but not least, the Specialists made fish and chips.
